Mom & Babies Programs

It's never too early to introduce hand eye co-ordination to children.  The Mom & Babies program began at the Chandler Community Center in 2002, with 3 classes.  It soon grew to 8 classes and now offers over 30 classes including art camps, intersession programs, Mom & Babies in Spanish, Raku and ceramics for adults.  We offer a wide variety of programs emphasizing child growth through creativity, imagination and self expression.  Developing co-ordination of hands, fingers and eyes.  Introduction to self expression can begin as early as possible, at 18 months a children love to get their hands into soft clay and begin modeling creatures and sculptures, be it pancakes or snowmen.  The most important action is the tactile experience of squeezing the clay.  Children have a natural creativity that can be directed into clay.  The beautiful part of being a young child is the ability of creating then role playing with their creations in a wonderful fantasy, a world of their own making.
